Of all the approaches (such as social-historical, legal-juridical,…, etc) one can have towards the concept of war and peace in Alavi Tradition, theological approach is the most important one. This research, with an analytical point of view, tries to explore the theological basics and roots in Alavi tradition citing the historical references. The research concludes that the most important on these traditions are: Expansibility and durability of the divine mercy, divine mercy overtaking the divine wrath, Imam’s being the manifestation of divine beauty and glory, right and wrong conflicting each other, insighting the monotheism, showing the discrepancy between being guided or strayed, defending the teachings of Islam and the prophet, obeying God’s order to conflict the traitors, explicating the Qur’an and resisting the willingness to return to “Jahiliya”. The general result of these principles, in Alavi Tradition, is peacefulness (preceding peace on war) and only engaging in a war if situation is compelled.
