Western and Islamic philosophers have regularly commented on this issue but, due to the recent development in cognitive sciences including neurology and artificial intelligence, the analysis of “consciousness” is largely disputed. Searle is a contemporary analytical philosopher who, in his own opinion, has presented an innovative approach for solving the issue of “consciousness” and its relation with brain and nervous system. According to him, the equality of consciousness and physical affairs is denied and Cartesian dualism is avoided. Issues such as consciousness are characteristics of brain cortex and effect of brains’ internal processes. In Searle’s view, causality of brain’s internal parts and characteristics of its cortex can solve the challenges associated with the relationship between body and mind. The present research has adopted an analytical-critical method to explain Searle’s view and analyze it critically. It was revealed that, on one side Searle’s analysis of the causality of intercellular parts is violated and on the other, realization of consciousness in the brain is impossible. Searle also fails to provide robust evidences on his claims.  <span lang="FA" style="letter-spacing: -.2pt;">تبیین ماهیت پدیده‌های ذهنی، به‌ویژه آگاهی، از مهم‌ترین مسائل فلسفه ذهن و انسان‌شناسی معاصر است. فیلسوفان غربی و اسلامی همواره به تبیین این مسئله می‌پرداخته‌اند، ولی باتوجه‌به پیشرفت‌های جدید در «علوم‌شناختی»، از جمله علوم مربوط به عصب‌شناسی و هوش مصنوعی، تحلیل آگاهی، اختلاف نظرهای متنوعی را به دنبال داشته است. سرل یکی از فیلسوفان تحلیلی معاصر است که در فلسفه ذهن خویش، طرحی به اعتقاد خودش نوین، برای حل مسئله آگاهی و نسبت آن با مغز و سلول‌های عصبی ارائه کرده است. بر اساس دیدگاه وی که هم به دنبال نفی همسان‌انگاری آگاهی و امور فیزیکی و هم دوری از دوگانه‌انگاری دکارتی است، مقولاتی همچون آگاهی، ویژگیِ سطح ظاهری مغز و معلول فرایندهای درون مغزی هستند. به گمان وی، علیّت اجزای درونی مغز برای آگاهی و ویژگی سطح ظاهری بودن مغز می‌تواند چالش‌های مربوط به رابطه ذهن و بدن را برطرف کند؛ پژوهش حاضر با روش تحلیلی - انتقادی، پس از تبیین دیدگاه وی، به بررسی انتقادی آن خواهد پرداخت. از سویی تحلیل وی از علیّت اجزای درون‌سلولی مخدوش است و از سوی دیگر، تحقق آگاهی در مغز محال است. همچنین وی ادله مطلوبی برای اثبات مدعای خویش ارائه نکرده است.</span> https://raj.smc.ac.ir/article_702506_879899e37afae905f6f1d5d13b4b6476.pdf
