Humans differ in terms of their talents and capacities, and the existence of such differences provides abundant potentials for civilization-building. This study aims to elucidate the role of tolerance in the development of civilization-building humans as viewed by Motahhari. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, it examines the systematic relationship between two variables: tolerance—with its components of acceptance of differences, cognitive flexibility, and constructive dialogue—and Islamic civilization, characterized by scientific progress, social cohesion, and the application of reflective thinking across all domains. The main research question is: What is Motahhari’s perspective on the functions of tolerance and its impact on the development of civilization-building humans? Using a descriptive-analytical method and an interpretive-analytical approach, this issue has been pursued, and the findings indicate that, in his thought, tolerance facilitates human progress along the path of civilization-building through processes of rationalization, cohesion, scientific innovation, religious reform, and civilizational interaction. در تمدن‌سازی اسلامی انسان مهم‌ترین اصل است. انسان‌ها از لحاظ استعدادها و توانایی‌های انسانی با هم متفاوت‌اند. وجود تفاوت در انسان‌ها ظرفیت‌های فراوانی در راستای تمدن‌سازی فراهم می‌کند. این پژوهش با هدف تبیین نقش رواداری در تکامل انسان تمدن‌ساز از منظر مطهری، با رویکردی بینارشته‌ای ارتباط نظام‌مند بین دو متغیر «رواداری» با مؤلفه‌های پذیرش تفاوت‌ها، انعطاف فکری و گفت‌وگوی سازنده، و «تمدن اسلامی» با شاخصه‌های پیشرفت علمی، انسجام اجتماعی و کاربست تفکر در همۀ عرصه‌ها را بررسی می‌کند. پرسش این است که: دیدگاه مطهری دربارۀ کارکردها و چگونگی تأثیر رواداری بر تکامل انسان تمدن‌ساز چیست؟ در این مقاله با روش توصیفی‌تحلیلی و رویکرد تفسیری‌تحلیلی به این پرسش پرداخته‌ایم. یافته‌های پژوهش نشان می‌دهد رواداری در اندیشۀ مطهری از طریق فرآیندهای عقلانی‌سازی، انسجام‌بخشی، نوآوری علمی، اصلاح دینی و تعامل تمدنی، زمینه‌ساز حرکت انسان در مسیر تمدن‌سازی می‌شود و به‌ عنوان زیرساختی معرفتی، نه‌فقط در قالب فضیلتی اخلاقی، بلکه به مثابۀ ضرورتی تمدنی، مسیر تحقق تمدن اسلامی را هموار می‌کند.
